Dark Transfers on dark fabrics

Dark Transfers are opaque after ironing on dark fabrics. Any borders around your design will show up as white.

Dark Transfers on light fabrics

Dark Transfers can also be used on light fabrics and look just as nice.

Light Transfers on dark fabrics

Light Transfers are transparent after ironing. This means the fabric color will show through the design. Depending upon your design, this might not work for you.

Light Transfers on light fabrics

Light Transfers work best and are intended for white, off-white or cream-colored fabrics.

Borders with Dark Transfers

Dark Transfers on dark fabrics:

Dark Transfers are opaque on dark fabrics. Any borders around your design will show up as white. Depending upon your design, this might work for you. If not, please note white borders will show up.

Dark Transfers on light fabrics:

Dark Transfer borders on light fabrics are still visible but not as noticeable due to less contrast in colors. Depending upon your design, this might work for you. If this does not work for your design, try using Light Transfers instead of the Dark Transfers. The Light Transfers will allow the border to blend in more.

Borders with Light Transfers

Light Transfers on light fabrics:

Light Transfers are transparent with borders that are nearly invisible. The Light Transfers coating will adhere to the fabric when you iron. This will happen even in blank areas where there is no design. On that blank area, you may see the coating as 鈥渟hiny.鈥?

To prevent this, we recommend cutting a 1/8鈥?border around your design. Keeping the border near the design edge will make it almost unnoticeable.

For more complex designs, you can use any desktop cutting machine鈥檚 print and cut function. Make sure to lay the Transfer on the cutting mat with the image facing up. This will keep the image from sticking to the mat.

Printing with Dark Transfers

The back of Dark Transfers are printed in Blue (see colors for specialty transfers below). For printing, make sure to load the Transfer paper so that the image will print onto the blank matte side, NOT the shiny side with the printed backer.

For Dark Transfers your image does not need to be mirrored.

Note: Use with only inkjet printers.

Printing with Light Transfers

The back of Light Transfers are printed in pink (see colors for specialty transfers below). For printing, make sure to load the Transfer paper so that the image will print onto the blank matte side, NOT the shiny side with the printed backer.

For Light Transfers you must flip/mirror the image before printing so your design will not print backwards. This is important if there are numbers or letters in your design.

Note: Use with only inkjet printers.

You must peel away the backing paper first. Lay the Dark Transfer on your fabric with the image side up. Cover the transfer with the included overlay paper, which acts as a barrier between the iron and the Transfer. Iron the overlay paper, while applying firm pressure in a straight non-stop motion for the required time.

Allow the fabric to cool before removing the overlay paper, if any part of your design has not adhered completely, simply repeat ironing again over that area and let cool.

Lay the Light Transfer on your fabric with the image side facing down. The backing with DOUBLE RED LINES will be facing up. For Light Transfers, you do not need an overlay sheet because the backing paper acts as the barrier between iron and the Transfer. Make sure to press firm as you iron in a straight non-stop motion for the required time.

After you finish ironing, wait 5 seconds then, peel the backing paper while still hot. Yes, while it is still hot. Hold the fabric in place with one hand. Smoothly and evenly peel away with the other hand.

Note: If any part of your design has not adhered completely, let the transfer cool. Then, use a wet paper towel to dampen the remaining backing paper and lightly rub off.
